latest acquisitions | FRANCESCO LA ROSA

Francesco La Rosa
Catania - Italy

Francesco La Rosa is a contemporary artist known for his innovative micro-carving technique on leather.

Born in Catania, Sicily, since childhood he has had a passion for art and multi-purpose knives. During adolescence, his talent led him to enroll at the Art Institute of Catania to pursue academic studies, drawing inspiration from great artistic personalities such as Rembrandt, Leonardo Da Vinci, Canaletto, Caravaggio, and Salvador Dalí.

Simultaneously, he continued to collect knives, unaware of their future use. Throughout his career, La Rosa has worked as a photographer, tattoo artist, art restorer, and designer for a brand of photo albums.

The turning point came in 2013 when, while creating an incision on leather for work, he accidentally discovered that he could use his beloved knives to achieve a unique effect.
This moment led him to study this new technique in depth, which would become the focal point of his art.

La Rosa began exhibiting his works in cathedrals and was invited to major fashion events such as Fashion Week and Linea Pelle. He collaborated with luxury brands and notable names while also contributing significantly to charity work in Africa, gaining the attention of numerous journalistic outlets.

His fame grew in America and London, where he exhibited at numerous events and galleries in Los Angeles and Boston.

The technique of working on leather with micro-carving allows no margin for error, as it is impossible to erase any mistakes, making each piece unique and unrepeatable.
